How to manage your wedding guest list, RSVPs and seating
Build a wedding guest list you can actually manage: A and B lists, households and plus-ones, RSVP and meal tracking, and a seating chart that comes from the same list.
Your guest list drives your budget, your venue and your catering bill, so it is worth keeping it in one place from the very first draft to the seating chart.
Start with households, not names
Invitations go to households, and RSVPs come back from them. List each household with its address and the people in it, including children and any plus-one.
Use an A list and a B list
Most couples invite more people than will come. Keep must-invite guests on an A list and send B-list invitations as declines come in, while there is still time before the RSVP deadline.
Track RSVPs and meals together
- Status for each guest: invited, attending, declined, no reply.
- Meal choice and any allergies, on the same row.
- A reminder list of everyone who has not replied a week before the deadline.
Seat from the same list
When the seating chart reads from the guest list, a late decline updates your table counts automatically, and the caterer's meal totals stay right.
