Ugly sweater contest questions

What are good ugly sweater contest categories?

Ugliest sweater, most festive, most creative (handmade), best lights or sound effects and best matching pair are the usual five. Funniest, best pet or kid sweater and most likely to be worn again work well for bigger groups. Three to five categories keeps the voting quick.

How do you judge an ugly sweater contest?

Let the guests vote. Hand out a ballot as people arrive, give everyone time to look at each other's sweaters, then collect the ballots in a box before dessert. Count the votes for each category and the most votes wins. A small parade or a line-up first helps people remember who wore what.

Can people vote for themselves?

That is up to you. Most hosts say no, and the ballot can say so for you. Tick or untick the rule before you print.

How many ballots do I print?

One per guest who votes, plus a few spares. The maker rounds up to a full page (six ballots a page with up to four categories, fewer with more), so nothing is wasted.

What if there is a tie?

Ask the room for a quick show of hands between the tied sweaters, or let the host break it. The on-screen tally shows ties as they happen.

Does this save our names?

No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is stored or sent. Print the ballots and the tally sheet before you close the page.
